BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept.1, 1998--

Move Enhances CheckFree's Ability to Rapidly Deploy Internet Billing Solutions

edocs, a leading provider of Internet Bill Presentment software applications and CheckFree CKFR -- the leader in electronic commerce processing, providing fully integrated electronic bill presentment and payment services to billers, banks and financial service providers -- announced today a software licensing and services agreement. Under the licensing agreement, CheckFree will use edocs' BillDirect Internet billing software application, which consists of an open, scalable server system that will allow CheckFree's bank and biller clients to use their existing print files and complex billing data to create more targeted marketing opportunities for their electronic billing customers. "Integrating our electronic billing and payment solutions with the edocs BillDirect offering further strengthens CheckFree's ability to accommodate any type of billing system," said Matt Lewis, senior vice president of CheckFree's Electronic Commerce Product Management and Marketing. "A biller can provide us with any type of billing system output, and we'll oversee creation, distribution to trusted financial institutions, payment, tracking and customer care for the entire electronic billing and payment process." Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, CheckFree will use BillDirect to develop and deploy Internet billing applications for certain CheckFree E-Bill(SM) customers. Initially, edocs will assist CheckFree with the development and implementation of BillDirect applications that allow banks and businesses to leverage the Internet and existing billing processes to deepen customer relationships and reduce printing, mailing and remittance costs. In addition, edocs has enabled BillDirect to deliver summary and detail billing data to CheckFree's E-Bill servers, and will add direct support for CheckFree's electronic payment technology. "We are excited to have the leading provider of electronic bill presentment and payment services using our Internet billing solution," said Jim Moran, senior vice president of edocs Sales and Marketing. "This agreement with CheckFree is an important milestone for edocs and the industry. Now it is easier than ever for billers, banks and service bureaus to leverage Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) to improve customer care and targeted marketing, and also to reduce the print & mail and remittance costs."

<< How was the scuba diving? >>

In a word, spectacular. Four of us hit the coral reef lying just south of the Ocean Reef club on Friday AM.

Its a marine sanctuary, so no fishing, spearing, lobstering, or touching. Huge living corals, thousands of tropical fish. Spotted lobsters, a nurse shark, and a sea turtle.

Calm seas, 50' visibility, and almost no current.

I was as happpy as a gopher in loose dirt!

Thanks for asking, and more thanks to Bob G, The Man!
