I presently don't hold any position in @Home (or any other stock), have nibbled in the past. I have cable modem from Palo Alto Cable Co-op. 500/100kb download/upload. The service costs $99 per month, and its worth it. I am jealous we don't have @home in our area.

I think cable modem is a great up and coming technology. I was asking my Cable Co-Op how many subscribers they have and how fast they are growing. She said, 500 subscribers and growing at 10 installations per week. I asked how come the demand is so low and prices so high. She said, lack of capacity. The entire Palo Alto's cable system could only handle 10MB/Sec, therefore, they can't service too many people.

Question for the thread....

Does @home have the same limitation. out of the potential 60,000,000 cable customers (TCI & Company), how much capacity does the existing system actually have?

Is this why @Home growing slower than one would expect?

Why hasn't sales exploded already? Downloads at a mere 500kb/sec is outragoues. I can't never go back to a 50kb modem.

Thanks for your help.
