Art its big news - IBM ships copper PowerPCs - AAPL benefits also

A year ahead of planned production - S Jobs 1st demoed it 3/16/98 at Seybold NYC and he is speaking at Seybold SF tomorrow .

AAPL and IBM will keep the PowerPCs to themselves , but IBM has plans to open up the copper process -- maybe AMD ?

>> " The world's largest computer maker said it would begin shipping its first copper-based microprocessors, including a PowerPC 740/750 model operating at 400 MHz.

The chips are designed for use in both desktop and mobile computers.

Industry analysts said Apple Computer would use IBM's new PowerPC microprocessors as the basis for computers yet to be announced. "
