Marc: Re: "Then the bears will declare victory claiming "virtually a bear market" and Bob and the bulls will declare victory since never closed a full 20% down in the S&P and Dow."

Brinker can also claim partial victory if the downturn is brief and not the extended six to twenty-four months usually associated with a bear. Corrections are violent and brief even if taken to extremes by panic selling. Panic was the word yesterday. It would be nice to see some panic buying for a change or at least some short covering <g>. Remember, surprises are supposed to be to the upside <g>.

Hey, maybe I should be a Clinton strategist <G>.

<<I'm continuing to believe Bob and AJC until clearly proven wrong down the road at which point I'll be on the corner selling the best damn pencils you ever wrote with>>

Do you need a business partner?

Abby sticking to her guns - but where's Allan (Greenspan, that is)?

cnnfn.com

Secretary of the Treasury Rubin has been heard from (but I wish that he didn't say he talked to Clinton!). Since he is respected by wallstreet, despite his handicap of being part of the present administration, his words may have some calming affect on the market.

But where's Greenshades...? He wasn't shy about commenting on the market when it was going up.

Hey Allan, how about some calming words now? A reminder about the strength of the U.S. economy, etc.,etc., couldn't hurt.
