In a global slowdown, the small cap can well closed down its door and go bankruptcy , but for large cap it is just a temporary slowdown. Once your are stable and large , have a dominate position in the market, it is very hard for you to be small again, look at MSFT, INTC, CSCO ...etc, but when you are still small, you have more chance to be sunk under the water. As to qntm, wdc, those are still counted as
small cap or middle cap comparing to IBM, MSFT, CSCO.
As you know there are constant price war in the PC business, and many small players already closed their doors, but CPQ is still holding, that is because it is big cap, and hold the major position in the PC market,
