It used to be that the CNBC talking heads could not own individual stocks, other than GE in their retirement accounts. Yet over the past few months I have heard a few of them hint that they do own stocks, and in fact Mark Haines just now specifically said he owned a certain stock that a guest mentioned.

Why the change? Was that restriction perhaps one of the reason they have lost some good people?

Just curious...

My concept, Jopawa, was that the 8000 Special would celebrate the recapture of an 8000 level from beneath, not a special on the way down. Hopefully we can still have it, but probably not next week.

Frankly, with this market's volatility, anything can be possible, even short-term. The market was up 50+ (curbs in) when I left my computer for a fairly short meeting. I got back (maybe in 15-20 minutes) and the Dow was off over 100 (down-curbs in). Double-takes are becoming much too routine around here.

Here's to your next Dow 8000 Special, Jopawa. I hope it's not too long in the making.
