Mark,

We have similar origins to a degree. In my youth I left my family faith due to perceived hypocrisy and explored in many areas, philosophy, and some regions that I would have been better not to have ventured. I remain, I believe open minded yet at times admittedly stubborn.
I am a fervent opponent of the New Age movement (no snickering here) as I've done my best to study it extensively and have spoken with a number of its proponents. The reason being is the teachings on channeling, contacting ascended beings, which I believe to be demonic, also being a Christian I naturally profess Christ as the way of salvation not looking to ourselves.
As you have stated, I agree that there is good in many religions, even the New Age movement. When I say good, I mean that not everything they teach is bad. I have found interesting that New Age readily accepts any faith but as a rule shuns bible based Christianity.
I'm not labeling you a New Ager just getting on my soap box a little. I have through my employment had contact with various cults and a variety of religous groups and have interest in learning about them and talking with their members, presenting the gospel wherever I can.
Two thoughts for your opinion.
1 In every other religion the founders are human and their bones rest somewhere on earth. Not so in Christianity, Christ's grave is empty.
2 In every other religion you have to seek out God or work your way to enlightenment. In Christianity, God comes calling to you, and says salvation is free. It requires trust and belief.

God bless,
John
