Schwab consistently demonstrates that they are concerned with margins on normal days and are willing to sacrifice customer interests on heavy volume days. Sloooooooooooooow.

dennisp,

I started trading electronically when Schwab One first went online - then switched to eSchwab when they got it up & running.
May of this year I'd had enough & for the 1st time and opened an account with Yamner & Co. which has a web site -
yamner.com
however no electronic trading (a first for me)- all by phone & with somebody that has a heartbeat. They're policy is - the phone is answered before the third ring - and they DO! Even today. They're commissions are a few bucks more than Schwab but they don't act as MM's & have saved me big $$$$'s getting me the best prices.

This AM I wanted to unload some puts in a hurry - he wanted to keep me on the phone to get a better price. Well he did get a better price, in fact, the amount he saved me would have reduced Schwab's commission to the equivalent of Brown's.

The head trader, Steve Goldman, runs a thread on SI "From the trading desk", very informative on how the MM's, etc. run their business and profit from your trading.

I am no way involved with this company (in fact I'm in WA state - they're in NJ).

Regards
Bill/WA
