That's a hard question to answer, Kelvin.

The Quark proposal seems to be a joke (famous last words) to just about anybody that's been Around ADBE for a while.

I do think that Adobe is on to something with their K-2 R&D (supposedly a Quark killer). If the new layout program works, it could definitely make a lot of Xpress users at least consider the alternative. The rationale, being, that layout, drawing and image manipulation would all be under one similar suite of applications.

As to your question. There's nobody I'm aware of that would make a likely fit. As far as alliances go, Adobe is a very friendly company with AAPL and has been for many years.

See ya later!

"SAN FRANCISCO -- Quark Inc.'s proposal to buy Adobe Systems Inc. is striking a sour note with publishers.

Not one person in the audience of 500 at the Seybold Publishing 98 Seminar here Wednesday raised his or her hand when asked if the proposal was a good idea."

"...it's unlikely a merger will happen, according to a straw poll of the panelists. Most of them thought Adobe shareholders would reject an offer that's so unpopular with the company's customers."
