Hi Tomas, Hope you either stepped out of the way of the express train or have a long term view of LOIL.B. Anyway, I commiserate with you as my oil holdings have been soundly trounced this year. The only silver lining is that I have been through all of the pain and uncertainty currently faced by equity investors over the last 9 months in the oil sector - 500 point drop on the Dow?, no problem, you should see my Friede Goldman stock! <g>

I presume the Malaysia/Vietnam deal is on hold pending some light in the Asian economic crisis - seems less and less likely that something will be penned before the end of the year. Is that an accurate gut feeling?

Alex

Falklands oil stocks -- 2
AFX Europe: A spokesman for Shell denied that the company has extended its drilling programme in the Falkland Islands. Eric Nixon told AFX News: ''There has been no change of plans.'' tjzw/ln/

Well, Shell has not extended its drilling programme, but the interesting question is: ARE THEY TESTING THE WELL? I think they are.

Sodra Petroleum has confirmed that Shell was supposed to hand over the rig to Sodra at the end of August, but has held on for a further fortnight. Testing the well requires at least 10 days. And testing does not mean "extending the drilling programme"...
