Strange trading right before the close. Although the price of the stock fell at the close I believe that the trading can be viewed as a positive.

Here's what I saw in the last 5 minutes of trading. (approximate #s)

Bid 45 7/8 ask 46 3/8

10,000 shares traded with few if any buyers. Price takes a hit.

Bid 44 ask 44 1/2

100,000 shares trade at the ask

Bid 44 1/2 ask 45 with last trade at 45

100,000 shares trade again at the ask

Bid 44 1/2 ask 45 with last trade at 45

It looked like someone noticed that there were very few buyers on the bid, sold about 10,000 shares at the market driving the price down and causing some panic. This could have been a real seller that was dissapointed that there was no last minute rally. It could also have been the market makers or a large trader trying to scare some more shares out of weak hands.

Once the price had dropped to 44 x 44 1/2 (a screaming buy) some big blocks started coming in at the ask. Over 200,000 shares in the last minute of trading.

Anyone else see what I saw? I don't have level II quotes. The daily 5 minute charts don't give any clues either.

Dave
