Here it is: SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES LIMITED - MARSFONTEIN JOINT VENTURE - SOUTH AFRICA PRODUCTION BEGINS. TORONTO, Sept. 1 /CNW/ - SouthernEra Resources Limited (SUF - TSE), is pleased to announce that commercial production commenced on Monday, 31st August, 1998, at the M1 kimberlite on the Marsfontein Joint Venture project (De Beers 60%, SouthernEra 40%), in South Africa. Processing of surficial material consisting of diamondiferous overburden began yesterday. The plant is now expected to operate on a continuous basis until the resource is depleted. Earlier bulk sample testing of the near surface overburden and surficial deposits overlying M-1 yielded 22,390 carats of diamonds. The recoveries indicated for this material, although erratic, were higher than the grade obtained by bulk sampling of the primary kimberlite. Waste stripping, pit preparation and stockpiling of ore are proceeding at the site. Progress reports will be made at regular intervals. %SEDAR: 00004535E PHIL
