The article by Wayne Rush is quite good. But he missed two extremely important issues - (1) the matter of new SEC regulations requiring full disclosure of how Y2K problems are being addressed and the status of the work being done and (2)legal liability that thousands of attorneys are already gearing up to deal with - both offensively and defensively.

Disclosure does not affect privately held companies. But nobody can escape lawsuits if a customer or employee or anybody else can claim they were harmed or interfered with because the company failed to act in a responsible way to solve the Y2K problem.
