In my opinion you are wrong. Look at the charts and notice that the highs occurred on July 22nd which was a day ahead of Greenspan's remarks. (In fact it looks like the OEX high occurred the week prior). Furthermore, AG said nothing at the July Humphrey Hawkins testimony which he hadn't stated previously and, in fact, many observers and pundits thought he was very subdued.

Maybe you should apply for a job as a Fed governor since you seem to know more about how to manage this economy. Maybe you also didn't know that AG was against raising rates previously in the face of very strong numbers and two voting members, Poole and Broaddus, who wanted to raise rates.
