I agree that is probably why they bought the CRUS patents. However, if the other patents are of use, they need to be used sooner rather than later. As everyone knows, chip technology changes at a fast pace and it is unlikely these patents will be worth squat in a few couple of years. There are constantly new improvements in both the chips and the manufacturing processes. I agree that the long-term prospects are good to double, even triple your investment (or more likely recoup the 70-80% you've already lost on this stock). Here are my pros and cons for the stock:
Pros:
-Savage getting good reviews
-Cash, lots of it
-Remaining Fab investment- good investment that can be sold quickly, gives S3 premium fab place for their chips while they have it
-Patents (see cons)
-Good laptop market share

Cons:
-No OEM design wins. The chip has been around long enough for this to happen.
-No big board design wins.
-No insiders buying. At below book value if you had the least bit of confidence in YOUR comapny wouldn't you buy? Do they know something we don't?
-Possibly worthless patents?
-Irresponsive management. Gary Johnson should have been long gone in my opinion.
