Lin, I'm not sure you understood my post. We know the Chinese gov't bought $15bil. in HK stocks last week. But if it hedged this position by shorting the futures market - as you claim, the two positions should be roughly offsetting. There would be no squeezing of the speculators. There would be no stabilizing effect either. In fact there wouldn't be much of anything. Yet, that is what you claimed the Chinese gov't did.
