Not just flu vaccine. I received in the mail today an advertisement for a new book entitled "Mucosal Immunology". It is published by Academic Press. One of the chapters is called "Mucosal Vaccines. The topics covered in the chapter are: Mucosal Vaccines: An overview Antigen delivery systems I- Nonliving (Microparticles, Liposomes, ISCOMS, etc Antigen delivery systems II-Living (Recombinant Bacteria, Viruses) Antigen delivery systems III-Transgenic Plants DNA Vaccines for Mucosal Immunity Mucosal Adjuvants Systemic and Mucosal Respiratory Immunity Against Military Relevant Pathogens by Oral Immunization Enteric Bacterial Vaccines, Salmonella, Shigella, Cholera, E. coli Enteric Viral Vaccines Respiratory Bacterial Vaccines (Hemophilus Influenzae, Streptoccus p[neumoniae, Bordetella pertussis, etc) Respiratory Viral Vaccines (Influenza, Parainfluenza, RSV, etc) Mucosal Vaccines for Dental Diseases Mucosal Vaccines for Parasitic Diseases The point of this is that this technology will eventually cover a much wide application than just a flu shot. I will try to find the book and wade through some of the material. The book's list price is $199 so I won't be ordering it.
