It's probably secure enough for the average surfer. An industrious youngster with enough determination and know how could probably put a sniffer on their cable outlet line and grab copies of your packets, but then they would have to figure out what they were and put them pack together in some meaningful way - no easy chore. I'd say you would be really safe when doing business over a secure socket with decent encryption. Almost all on-line brokerages and Internet commerce is done over secure sockets.
