The future of EDS hinges on the new CEO that is given the helm.

If the board makes a decent selection and then lets him clean house EDS may once again be the powerhouse in the business. The new CEO will be given a new start by Wall Street if he does not bring a lot of baggage with him. In this respect I think the best selection would be a number two man from one of the big computer companies. Something like Bay Networks did when they took Gary House from Intel.

Let's hope this doesn't take too long. The board may decide that Les isn't getting enough of a reward for his fine performance.

Bravo on your comments on the compensation to Les<s>.... think EDS is going down further and the idea that EDS as a leader in their field has no merit.

Intersting you mention a potential CEO being the president of Oracle; this would be a SUPERB move in my opinion. Ray Lane is a super bright individual and much of Oracles growth can be attributed to his hard work. The reasons I believe he would succeed:

1. Proven track record
2. Would shake EDS from the foundation and would clean house of all dead wood real fast (i.e.: all the upper management in the God Pod).
3. Is a great salesman and will push for deals and would not tolerate those who do not make their quotas....
4. Has a strong following in Silicon Valley

Some other points:

1. Ray Lane used to work for EDS some time ago (therefore knows what he would be getting into).
2. Originally from Dallas before moving to the Gold Coast (before EDS I am unsure)
3. He must have the patience of a saint to put up with the Larry Ellision...

This is one of the few 'intellegent' thought provoking thoughts I have heard on this thread... have to admit this would greatly change my attitude about EDS.
