Freeus, Roller Coasters you say. Recently this old man took some kids to 6 Flags. I rode the Viper, the Mind Bender and The Great American Scream Machine.

Said I wouldn't ever go back. Now I'm reconsidering.

Roller Coasters are serene compared to this market.

Best to you, Freeus!

Don

Off Topic Re: Options

Hi Freeus!

1. In order to be approved for options trading, I don't think that Brown & Co. or any other brokerage firm requires actual options experience. They only are seeking an indication from you on your account application that you have options experience. This is probably to protect them from liability if a novice loses money through options trading. I doubt that they really care whether or not the applicant herself has options experience. It can be dangerous for a novice to trade options without advice from an experienced options trader or an experienced broker. If you get such advice, you will be trading with the benefit of that experience. I believe that the CBOE offers a free video covering the basics of option trading, but initially it would also be good to get advice for each proposed trade. It appears that Don Martini, Patrick McDaniel, and others on this thread can help you.

2. The least expensive commissions for options trading that I have found is Dreyfus Brokerage Service. Commission is $1.75 per contract, with a minimum of $15 per trade. These rates are lower than those of Brown & Co. Incidentally, they do allow limited option trading in IRA's, in addition to option trading in taxable accounts.
