I've been listening this evening to political commentary while Clinton is in Moscow. Its rare for me to offer personal opinion, yet I find the constant pursuit of the Lewinsky matter an embarrassment. From the two faced speeches of Senator Hatch to the constant sensationalism of grand jury lawyer after grand jury lawyer suddenly raised to the status of Inside-the-Beltway jurist rumor mongers. Since when have we become so sanctimonious as to rant and rave about denying and lying about sexual affairs, placing this discussion ahead of international politics, ahead of education, ahead of the economy, ahead of every decent ambition this country has! Its the height of stupidity, its a national lie that we are all in a position to be 'shocked' at the lusts of another human being, even the President_ whose real crime it seems, is that he's lied about then admitted what most men and women at times imagine and many have done. Next, we'll have to suffer the Paula Jones anatomy descriptions if Judge Wright releases locked testimony. Who, at this point is responsible for what? Lets talk about responsible judement and its value outside the courts. Chris Mathews, in my opinion, is the worst of the bunch. He's whimpy, simpering, on a smear campaign that is his only value as a TV host.. who constantly refers to his small mind as being the values of the American people. What an insult to Americans who've had a long history of tolerance and plurality. Remember American's personal lives include a 50% divorse rate which is most often provoked by infidelity. Our collective parenting now has more children being raised by single and second partner parents than the conceiving parents. What I object to most is that the political arena, which should and can have depth and be a polling ground for the real issues and solutions for our future, has become a circus. We have become the clowns and we are paying the price because leadership derives from the people. And in closing.. if we are going to get into the dirt this election, perhaps every candidate for office should fill out a legal form revealing all, including running red lights and lieing at the office, which according to a Time magazine poll, is regularly done by 95% of the population. Well, that's that.. and why fundamental analysis is tricky stuff.
