Steven: I agree that the quality of the relationship with the colonialists has a powerful effect. I do however think the prior influence is stronger than we are able to realize, inasmuch as we have not the mindset to fully recognize it. We see and interpret through the Western eyes (paradigm)and are thus blinded, I think. Oh well, we're only speculating and philosophizing. My best to you, Peter P.S.
