Note: Due to the high demand of our new Powerbooks, build-to-order
Powerbooks will not be available until next month (October)...
lovely.

The new G3 PowerBooks have really nice specs. I think it's safe to say that the demand for them will far exceed supply from now until the end of Q4. I was told that BTO consists of a tiny fraction of total units but it complicates production process quite significantly. Thus I think it is a wise move that Apple is temporarily suspending built-to-order with the PowerBooks. It might annoy a few users who want to customize their systems but this will allow Apple to focus on producing the three standard configurations and crank out a lot more machines before Q4 ends.
