Vitas: You got to think in terms of the close! Not the intra day low and high.

NH-NL is meaningless here. A-D's are more important. For big up day, A-D of 1.7 is very narrow. Selective stocks went up? A-D volume is 895-290. We'll see what they are tomorrow.

When will the Feds lower the discount rate? That's a potential for 500 - 800 up day, but rally will be short lived.

Does anyone know if bear market rallies are characterized by sharp and short rallies? How many rallies before crashing down?

Vitas,

>>>>>>>> with the market's high today considerably lower than yesterday's high, aren't fewer new highs today to be expected? (SPX 1000.71 v 1033.47)<<<<<<<<

On Monday I think the actual number of NEW HIGHs was 20, based on a closing price of 7539. Yesterday, the DOW closed 288 points higher and there the NEW HIGHs dropped to 13. I would have assumed that there should have been at least a very small improvement, say 1 or 2. As discussed earlier with JIM the NEW HIGHS will take a while to have a substantial improvement since the market is so far from the highs.
