peter,

A reasonably broad recovery, regaining most of the 13% lost yesterday. All industrial sectors are up and the ringiit has rebounded sharply to 3.870 to the dollar from 4.20 just two days ago.

Seems that new liquidity and perceptions of protection are powerful aphrodisiacs for the locals. I know I am going to hear about it tonight. My wife wanted to by Sime Darby. I wouldn't touch it with anyones money until I knew I could convert it to U.S. when I wanted to. Dinner may be cold tonight. I am considering disabling her computer and the TV. <G>

Best,
Stitch

P.S. Good night for now...off to meet Bernie Tate for lunch and comiseration. <G>

Peter,

IMO we may as well write off Malaysia.

My bank accounts were frozen today as Bank Negara was unable to issue clarifying instructions to the banks. So it just told all the banks to freeze the assets. Went to the ATM and took out what I could as I leave for Manila tomorrow.

Furthermore I have no idea what I am returning to when I come back Saturday. The ruling party (umno) has called a hasty meeting for Thursday. The rumor tonight is that Anwar has either been fired or has resigned.

These idiots went and initiated a policy without preparing for it.

Bastards.

Best,
Stitch
