Can someone try to run the scan below. I ported it from Qp1 and keep getting the syntax error on the 'if' statement. Thanks

<SCAN EXPORTDATE=September 1, 1998 11:04:57 pm>

long

This Scan uses the Psycles concept of extended toppy patterns

Float todayclose, pmax, pmin,obvmax,obvmin, obvrange;

output="long.lst";
Exchange=NYSE,NASDAQ,AMEX;

pmax:=max(0,-300,cl);
pmin:=min(0,-300,cl);
obvrange:=abs(max(0,-300,obv)-min(0,-300,obv)+0.0001);
obvmin:=min(0,-300,obv);
todayclose:=close(0);

If (todayclose > pmin) and // trending down
(HasOptions = True) and // the issue has listed option
(AvgVol(0,-90)>=500) and // And 50,000 shares average volume
((close(0)/movavg(0,200,cl))\< 0.7 and
abs((wmovavg(0,25,cl)-pmin)/pmin)\<=0.07 and

Hi, David--

I think this has to do with the 255 stock limitation still built into MS. Sure, you can add more stocks to a directory within MS, but QP does not seem to be able to transfer stocks to a large directory in MS. In fact, when the directory gets around the 200 mark, strange things may happen during a QP transfer. The last time I tried this, the transfer worked fine for the first 241 stocks. The next 11 looked like they were transferred, but only the symbols were transferred. The data were incorrect and investigation showed that the data actually were transposed from stocks at the beginning of the directory list, which in turn were left with names intact but no data at all!!! The remaining stocks in the transfer list were ignored completely.

I've reported this to Gary a few days ago, but don't know whether it is an MS glitch or a QP bug.

Best thing to do is this:

Run a scan with Quotes Plus obtaining all symbols.
Break up the list alphabetically from A-Z, and possibly
creating other lists for IRL, Indices, etc. Create each
of these as text files.

Create directories for each of those categories
(Directory A, B, C, ... Z, Index, IRL, etc.)

Use QP Metastock output program and export the files
out to disk.

Or.... just use the virtual program... however, this
program is in beta. If you are using WinNT, forget it.
Only Win95 is supported. Throw caution to the wind
when using beta software.
