Southern California Edison believes that the growing number of people using the Internet for stock trading and banking will also pay their utility and other bills on the Web. Those residential and commercial customers, however, will use the Internet in different ways, so the utility and many other billers are planning to make their statements available in several different locations with various technology partners. The utility, for example, also plans to send summaries of its bills to other entities, such as banks that want to get into the business of aggregating billing content from disparate sources onto one Web site.

Says Sidiropoulos: "There will be others but [CheckFree and MSFDC] are the two biggest players."
