Speaking as a programmer, I say thank goodness. As you may know, I've been asking the question for a long time why it is when toasters die after a few years we all shrug our shoulders and say "Darn planned obsolescence; guess I need to buy a new one". But for some reason we expect software to just work forever???

Sorry, if companies don't fix their Y2K problem, they have no one to blame but themselves. They all know this and are scared to death about even saying they have a problem. It's hard to get help unless you admit having a problem.

So to recap: insurance companies look like they may be off the hook as pertains to Y2K related business interruption coverage, and now you can't sue software companies for redress. Looks like the buck stops with the user.
