Calgary Herald: Jim Buckee, chief executive at Talisman Energy Inc., noted there were few blocks of his company's shares being traded, so it is essentially small retail investment firms selling.

He cited a number of factors for the decline, including the company's recent decision to invest in war-torn Sudan.

"There's the price of oil, and Talisman is liquid so there are some things you can't get out of even if you wanted to. Talisman is also in the TSE 35 so we get hit by index trading as well as Sudan.

"There are lots of different strands to this and I believe it can bounce back very rapidly."
