Diamond/Aureal now have to come up with something quick or withdraw MX-300. Wow, Creaf is not joking about SB Live! They had planned to take over the the whole PC-audio world. Live!Ware ... quite catchy ... I like this concept of built-in upgradability - quite a good reason for all current soundcard owners to upgrade to SB Live. The support on the SB Live website and the Creaf news server is quite revolutionary, I must say. This whole thing is unfolding like a dream. Dare I hope for another major announcement, perhaps just before the MX-300 launch?

Can someone tell me if a chip like EMU10K1 can do both the decoding and amplification of AC-3 signals? I know you need both to actually hear Dolby Digital. The Encore only does decoding, and you need an AC-3 amp to hear the effect, whereas the Desktop Theatre 5.1 does the amplification (after receiving a decoded AC-3 signal).
