William, I do not consider unsolicited commercial email to be a responsible use of network resources. Furthermore, I do not consider it good business practice.

This type of irresponsible behavior was a problem when FAX machines appeared. Now we have a federal law prohibiting such behavior.

Legislation is being debated and crafted in many areas that prohibit or restrict unsolicited email.

I receive a great deal of this type of email: FREE LIVE SEX, or AMAZING NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, Get your International Driver's license, blah, blah blah... Most of the time I have no recourse since many do not include a return address.

I made a public complaint because I wanted more than simple removal from Mr. Berber's list. I wanted to make my little tiny contribution to reduce net irresponsibility.

If anyone would like to find out more about this subject, please see the Internet Mail Consortium website:

William, I don't think my post to Mr. Berber was rude or crude. Unnecessary perhaps but not rude and crude.
