Mark,

Thanks for the timely response. Yes, I believe that death is punishment for sin and that we would be eternal beings in the body if sin had not brought death. A central teaching of Christian faith is the immortality of the body as well as the of the soul. That's what the resurrection is all about. Since Jesus died and was bodily resurrected, then so will all people be resurrected.

Mark, I ask you, on what basis do you believe that the soul is immortal? Or, what happens to the soul after the death of the body? Quite frankly, I want someone who can convince me of his position on the matter, not just talk about it. Jesus perfectly satisfies this need for me. Do you have any other candidates?

If it turned out that this (bodily resurrection) did not happen, then this would make Christian preaching and our faith empty. Worse, it would make all of its proponents out to be liars because they testified such things about God. And, those who have believed in it are pitiful, because for this belief they have set aside all other hope in this world. The New Testament states this viewpoint very boldly (1 Cor. 15:12-22).

You have a good mind and you express yourself well. I hope you will allow me to address your other questions shortly.

So long for now,

Stan
