I was very disappointed with the response from Cliff. I asked for some information on Intranets, things like white papers, journals, etc... What did I get nothing. All he did was type in the word "Intranet" into Yahoo and came of with about 5 links. My 6 year old could have done that himself

For someone who knows nothing about Intranets you should have found use of those trivial links. I do not read white papers, nor do I have a handy set of links available for your viewing pleasure. So if I don't answer your questions I'm laughed at, if I do then I'm laughed at. ROFLAMO.

I dispute his theory that he proclaims you can build an Intranet (I think he said in a week or two or maybe a month) Then he compared it to Kevins FNTNInvestors website. Nothing against Kevins work but, Kevin would even tell you the same thing.

Please point me to a link where I compared FNTN's website to that of Kevin's. I think you are sadly mistaken, and attempting to mislead people. Bad boy. I think it was another poster here do said Kevin's site looked BETTER than FNTN's. Apparently you still don't know what qualifies as an Intranet do you? An intranet can be as simple as a word document published on a IIS server that is only accessible to the internal lan or over their private wan. Or it can be as complicated as a company wants.

He states he is a programmer/network administrator. Maybe we could question him on these things. But he is probably still using BASIC or some programming language like that. LOL

Sure, be my guest. But I must inform you that BASIC is not my forte, even Visual Basic. So what do you do again?

Cliff

Hi Greg,

You know, technically he was correct. A decent programmer could build an intranet in a short time. That says nothing about the quality, speed, or features of the thing. Right now, all we know is that MS has said that FNTN intends to supply a secure intranet with video on demand features (amongst other things). None of knows how sophisticated or feature-laden this thing will be. The possibilities range from a state of the art, make-your-eyes-pop-out sort of thing to a plain, ordinary, run of the mill site with a few easily copied innovations. I am betting -and yes, it is a bet - on the former.

A while back, I gave some statistics on the amount of time it took one of the largest IT consultants (SAIC) to build and implement my company's intranet. This is pretty sophisticated as far as these things go, but video on demand is not a feature except on a relatively few dedicated workstations. Elapsed time from start to full implementation: just about a year. Of course, Cliff wasn't interested in - or at least made no response to - direct, first hand experience. This is only one example of his blind spot towards anything positive about the company. Well, I guess technically it's not necessarily positive, but it refutes the negative. The 'what's taking so long' bit just doesn't hold water for me.
