The pessimism on this thread is vomitous. Albatross.... get a grip, far from an albatross, Ciena should be looked at as a Power-Crystal around TLABS neck. If you whiners were honest you'd admit you're just pissed off because the price of your stock has dropped. Taking cheap shots (and tired analogies) at Ciena is lazy and disingenuous.

Not quite. Nortel is farther along than you believe. They have DWDM systems more sophisticated than 4 channel, as do all the other vendors.

Doug, yes the uncompleted BT/MCI merger is one that didn't close. I will also vote in favour of the TLAB/CIEN combination. CIEN technology is valuable and if the new TLAB is continuing to be successful which I think it will, in 10 years time this merger will be viewed as cheap anyway.
