Can't short AMZN either. Marked as "NS". Too bad, looks like a tasty target.

Each broker ultimately makes its own decision whether to give margin on any stock.

My guess is this is a response to Monday's fall, to reduce their risk.

Yiwu:

Anydody noticed that Datek now give a non-marginable sign to every singlel stock <$5, including a lot of NYSE stocks. Is it the requirement from the Fed? or just Datek's own decision?

Well, this is interesting. NEW Datek shows my buying power as a negative $115xxxxxx (I leave the decimal place to your imagination) while Classic shows it as a positive $34xxxxxxx.

I guess we now know that Yiwu uses New Datek.
