I know there was a big flap in Austin when the State of Texas decided to dump Disney stock to protest the movie Pulp Fiction. I suppose that implies that they sometimes buy stock too.

TP (Who thinks the state is worse at picking stock than I am).

sig, a few books have been written on this subject. the fed intervened in 87; providing low cost loans. it's not known how many specialists took advantage of the program. the bottom line supposition is that when no buyers are left (or few buyers) the market's given leeway in moving a price up on few buyers to assist demand.

there are so many shorted shares of stocks now, that one move in the right directiion could, as cohen states, move the dow back above 9300 very quickly. given current numbers, don't see how it won't happen.
