Don,
Its not that simple. For example many of the OEM's use ATI
boards in the past year. For a OEM to switch boards it is
not the board that is the problem but changing the software
drivers. For ATI to get the next round of business, they
introduce a product that works of small changes in software.
That way the OEM does not have to go through a full
compatability test. Second, the footprint of the chip. The
chip manufacture usally uses the same footprint as the
previous chip, so for the motherboard applications there is no
major redesign just for a graphics chip change.
