The PSC1000 (ShBoom) from Patriot Scientific has 'floating point
support' but without using an FPU. It's basically a very fast integer
chip with fairly quick floating point operations - the FP operations are
a combination of hardware and software implementations. It's an
inexpensive (claimed to be $10 in quantity) 32bit 100MHz processor, and
has a lot of useful glue-reducing features.

Check www.ptsc.com for information and www.forth.com for comparative
benchmarks running Forth. Patriot provide an evaluation board with an
ANSI C compiler, ANS Forth can be obtained from Forth Inc, and Java has
been demonstrated.

I've no connection with Patriot, I just like using the thing.

Cheers
