Acquiring companies generally have their share price go down,
reverse for acquirees (sp?). Delay of shareholder vote,
adds uncertainty to the acquisition, thus more beneficial
to acquiring companies stock price, more detrimental to
acquirees (sp?) stock price - in the near term. Unless additional
questions/concerns come to light over the course of the next 2
months, look for the share prices to converge (close to the .8:1.0)
ratio, that is, unless you think this deal is dead on arrival.
Even great acquisitions rarely reward the acquiring company's share
price in the short term. Ciena's earnings report is one question
that might come into play, whereas if the vote occured on 9/9,
it wouldn't have. I'm guessing that the TLAB management already
has a good idea of what's in there, but the voting shareholders
may not.
