Shane-Welcome back! As you can see, the bears did more than growl in your absence.
I agree with your take on Symbios. The storage business should be good for a long time. Symbios did 400m in standard cells last year and grew that part of the business @20%+. There is hope that LSI's sales and distribution effort can accelerate that growth rate (especially overseas). The combination puts LSI ahead of everyone in standard cells except Lucent and IBM. Do you have any details of the financing? Presumably, it was yen-based @ around 2%.
FWIW, I don't see the overall market supporting much on the upside for a few months. This could allow LSI to significantly outperform in the second half of next year. Right now, Gresham is perceived as a potential problem-when it is contributing it will be perceived as significant opportunity and there will be no holding LSI back. And we should live so long!
