Mohan, thanks for your detailed and thoughtful response. The points you raise certainly seem worthy of consideration. By the way, I did find a list which purports to be Bob's on another website. (I can't vouch for the accuracy because it was posted by a third party.) These are the 5 causes for a bear market. 1. The Federal Reserve tightens money. 2. Rising interest rates. 3. High inflation. 4. Rapid economic growth increases. 5. Overvaluation in the market.
