Ah, they do a convertible ...

... ok they can print a 'zillion to buy up the stock market, and put the stock into their coffers. But the money goes to the sellers. The sellers want hard dollars or anything else for it.

Printing money is ok, all regimes do it, but it might have some dilutive effect, nah?

In general:
More and more I begin to compare local governments with companies who print their own money so or so, namely stocks. It is the same.

1) Touting investors or the foreign countries how well they fare.
2) Then printing stock/issuing new debt at well lower rates.
3) Then they put out the light, either let default some loans or collapse the stock market or put ou fire in the government's palace.

4) Everything diminishes and then.... the IMF comes and puts in zillions of dollars.

5) The economy recovers. New money, new debt. Start over with 1)
