Its a stale figure by now I'm sure. But someone said a month or so ago that margin was ~ 2% of GDP. Kind of a big figure, don't you think?

Hi Phil, >>buying on margin<< that, and buying the dip, have been the BEST thing to do the past several years. That's why I'm of the opinion there's many who figured that out, and are FULLY margined now, waiting for the PPT to come to the rescue par usual. Even the cocky corporations selling massive puts on themselves who've never had to pay up by expiration must be sweating this. After all, we usually spend only about a day at a panic low & it's up from there, so why lose sleep over being fully leveraged ;-)

This DOES feel different, & I hope Greenspan stays out at least until the end of the month. 4 weeks of sleepless nights, should make the Abby's think about hawking new-era valuations, and clients about doing their DD!

Mutual fund flows for the week ending Wednesday should be interesting, they were telling last week, and that was before the Thursday & Monday drops. Ouch.

regards,
Tom
