John G,

You're a powerful writer. I haven't felt this good about MTSN since it confirmed the 300mm sale to the Siemens - Motorola alliance.

Good luck with your 5-bagger or better. We must be near the upturn - I don't remember the outlook ever being more bleak than it is today.

FWIW,
Ian.

Hi John, Geoff & Ian.

Yeah, I agree, and in fact right after my earlier post I added to my fairly modest position at 3 1/2. This is a thinly traded stock, and it was interesting to watch the trading today. I had expected to forget about this one until next year, but this price is pretty compelling. With this stock and from this level, I think that your five bagger is well within reasonable expectations -- provided we can get to the bloody turnaround. I believe that the news in the semi-equip sector will get still worse before it gets better, but I don't see how the price for MTSN can go a whole lot lower.

My biggest worry on this stock is that I usually try to buy industry leaders which are temporarily out of favor. I can't bring myself to think of MTSN as an industry leader, and I'm concerned that their position can get eroded during the downturn. The big players like NVLS, and more particularly AMAT can weather these storms and come out in a stronger competitive position than where they went in. Not sure that's the case for our MTSN. What do you think about their ability to protect/capture market share when the sector turns up next year?

Cheers.
