Hello Frank. Looks like everyone is in awe of that market performance. Very few posts.

I was watching that Swiss Air disaster from about 10 last evening into the middle of the night. Then off to the Dentist after not enough sleep and between my painkillers (Dentist did some more brutal work gg nothing serious though) and dividing my time between the crash, the stock market and the speech from Mr. Lieberman, the Democrat from Connecticut, in which he blasted the President, I did not get to see too much of the stock market action. Thank goodness. So I did not see the comments from Art Cashin on the trading floor about what tomorrow will bring. I think I incorrectly mentioned yesterday Mr. L. Wachtel. The Globex futures are mostly down so we may have a down day tomorrow, long weekend coming up etc. But I am still holding on to the hope that Mr. Cashin's big event tomorrow will mean that the market goes up. But at this point I would just be as happy if the whole thing waits until Tuesday. Flat tomorrow would be fine with me.

The Hong Kong Market was down a lot in the early session but then came back quite a bit. There is talk that their GVT is holding a lot of the H shares and those so called red chips. Traders think that their GVT will try to squeeze the short sellers. Hm. interesting strategy. Too bad our GVT can't do that. Maybe if part of the Soc.Sec. will be converted into stocks some day.

Mr. Rubin spoke some about the Latin American markets. Nothing to perk up the market. It had gone down about 200 points at one time, so being down 100 at the end was an accomplishment. Now I am cheering when the market recovers from being down 200 to being down 100. Sheesh.

With this market going up and down I don't think anybody knows for sure what the heck is going on. First it was the Asian markets, then Russia and now everybody is looking at Latin America. I decided not to do a thing at this point and just sit still. I received my statements today and I am still in the black for this year. That is more than some Mutual Funds are doing. Speaking about Mutual Funds: I have been in Janus Twenty since 92 I believe.

I watched the special on CNBC at 10 pm where Peter Lynch was a guest. It was not too interesting. I will retire now and watch NBR and Moneyline on tape.

Before I forget. The employment number is coming out tomorrow. It is thought to be up quite a bit but only because the GM strike is over. Let's hope that those guys don't make a big deal out of it. Hm, maybe the number will come in lower. What then? I don't think those big guys really know what they want at this point. gg.

Intel and Merck did well today. So did my WCOM. Considering what the market did, a cpl of stocks kept me above water.

Here is an Intel article. Networking stuff. Spreading their Wings may come in handy for Intel in the long run.
