PC, No validity to the vacationing fund managers theory, except in Europe, where they all take vacations during August. We have to remember that the mutual fund industry is 80% NYC, 15% Boston, and that those are cities that get very cold in the winter. Fund managers like to go to tropical isles while everyone else is sliding around the ice. Summer vacations are generally Joe Sixpack, two kids type deals. Different caste styles. BTW, where is the fund manager going to get his cash with all the redemptions?

My only disagreement to your theory on the short term is that I do not believe any trader on the Street will hold anything long over this weekend. Things are moving too fast. You could see Slick Willie and Boris the Tippler both resign over the weekend. Not likely, but certainly within the realm of possibility.
