WASHINGTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - First-time applications for
U.S. unemployment benefits crept up by 1,000 in the latest week,
the Labor Department said Thursday, reversing a decline in the
previous week.

Analysts say mounting global economic uncertainty means the Fed should shift its focus toward
promoting growth through lower rates since inflation is muted.
