Awesome CD, I have it. The Down By the River is incredible.
I had it on one night when I worked in the pet store. There
was about six or seven customers. Out of no where a wicked
storm errupted. It was raining much to hard for anyone to leave.
None of the customers knew who Roy was but they all got so into
and just kept looking at fish until the rain let uo, about 20
minutes. One guy told me he was jazz bass player and wanted to
know who it was. Then from around the bend I hear 3 different
people going, yeah who is this? It was pretty funny, they all
seemed so into I figured at least a few of them knew who he was.
Any how the Down by the River is ~9-10 minute live version.
I saw Roy 4 times. Twice he was too drunk to really play but the
other two times he was incredible. He reminded of Jaco Pastorius,
another incredible musician who just couldn't keep it together.
It seemed they both were their own worst enemies. Man do I miss
Jaco's shows at the old Lone Star. If you'er not familiar with Jaco
you might want to checkout Word of Mouth his best CD IMO.
