To anyone,
Need help on this. Does this represent a new share issue or a company positioning themselves for a future acquisition. Doesn't seem like much, unless cash was included with shares in a buyout.

In July 1998, Newmont filed a "shelf" registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission which amended an existing shelf registration, and increased to $400 million Newmont's capacity to issue equity securities. Newmont has no plans to issue any equity securities under these filings at this time.

WIth Clinton, Russia, Latin America, Japan, Y2K, solar phenomenon, etc., etc., etc., The stage for world-wide panic has been set. I suspect the true value of gold will soon arrive. If GE is vindicated and reserves proven, then this could make Bre-X look small. But if you are interested in where I believe we are heading globally, check out another thread:

ps if GE becomes the "talk of the globe", spend your millions wisely, and help others.
