Comverse Technology Announces Change in Board of Directors

WOODBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 3, 1998--Comverse Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT - news)
announced today the resignation of Greg Carr from its board of directors, to be replaced by Itsik Danziger, chief operating
officer of Comverse Network Systems Division.

Carr, founder and former chief executive officer of Boston Technology Inc., who joined the Comverse board at the time of
Boston Technology's merger with Comverse in January of this year, also announced his resignation from a separate, unaffiliated
corporate board position. The resignations were tendered to allow Carr to concentrate on new activities in the not-for-profit
area.

Danziger has served in numerous executive capacities at Comverse over a 13 year period, and is currently chief operating
officer of Comverse Network Systems Division, Comverse Technology's largest business unit.

On Aug. 25, 1998, Comverse announced record sales of $167,404,000 and record net income of $26,067,000, for the
quarter ended July 31, 1998, an increase of 26% and 53%, respectively.

Comverse Technology, Inc., headquartered in Woodbury, New York, designs, develops, manufactures and markets computer
and telecommunications systems and software for communications and information processing applications. Comverse's primary
products include: multimedia enhanced services platforms marketed under the names Access NP(R) and TRILOGUE(R)
